EB-1: First Preference

Certain foreign nationals who (1) possess extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or (2) athletes, or are outstanding professors or researchers, or (3) are managers and executives of multinational business entities, may apply for permanent residency in the U.S.

EB-2: Second Preference

Certain foreign nationals who hold advanced degrees, or those with exceptional ability in the sciences, arts, or business may apply for permanent residency in the U.S.

EB-3: Third Preference

Certain foreign nationals who are skilled workers, professionals without advanced degrees, or other workers who can show their labor is needed, may apply for permanent residency in the U.S.

EB-4: Fourth Preference

Certain foreign nationals who are religious workers or long-term foreign employees of the U.S. government may apply for permanent residency in the U.S.

EB-5: Fifth Preference

Certain foreign nationals who invest at least $1million ($500,000 is acceptable in designated areas) in a new commercial enterprise may apply for permanent residency in the U.S.
